Michelle Skeer was appointed to HMICFRS in April 2023, joining the inspectorate from Cumbria Constabulary.
Michelle joined Cumbria Constabulary in February 1990. The majority of her career has been within Crime Command where she led multiple major investigations. In 2018 Michelle became Cumbria Constabulary's first female Chief Constable.
Michelle received the Queen's Policing Medal (QPM) for her distinguished service in December 2017 and was awarded an OBE in 2023. Michelle oversees police forces and fire services within the North of England and has responsibility for Child Protection, Domestic Abuse and VAWG nationally within the inspectorate.
