Danny Shaw is a journalist and commentator, specialising in policing, crime, prisons and security. He spent 31 years at the BBC where, as Home Affairs Correspondent, he reported on police reform and won awards for his coverage of drugs, sentencing and criminal justice. He was a visiting lecturer in journalism at City University for 13 years and after leaving the BBC worked for the think-tank Crest Advisory, before joining Yvette Cooper's team as a senior adviser in the lead up to the 2024 General Election. Danny now combines a varied freelance journalism career with media training and consultancy.
