Chief Superintendent Sara Crane has 29 years' service, all with Devon & Cornwall Police, and has held a variety of roles at superintendent level, including local policing commander in Cornwall. Most recently she served as Cornwall partnership superintendent.
During the COVID-19 response, Sara was seconded to the National Police Operations Coordination Centre, to lead Operation Talla (the NPCC response to COVID-19) Recovery, Reform and Learning Programme. Prior to joining the NPCC full-time, Sara worked on G7, within Cornwall, focusing on business continuity with partnership agencies to ensure services to communities were continued and any disruption mitigated.
Sara was elected as the PSA’s gender inclusion lead in 2023, engaging with female PSA members to understand current issues and ensure they are heard at the appropriate forums to influence change. She was also secretary of Devon & Cornwall PSA Branch for four years before becoming branch chair in 2023.
Sara was elected as vice president of the association in January 2024, beginning her three-year term in March 2024. She is also the PSA's elected trustee of Police Care UK.
